dc.description.abstractThree piece Altar Set. Part of a collection of Old World fabrics, obtained from the Winter Palace, St. Petersburg, where they had been assembled from the private Chapels of the Winter Palace, Tsarskoye Selo and other Royal Palaces. These brocades and hand-cut velvets are woven with genuine gold and silver threads. Russian 18th and 19th centuries. The center piece of this Altar Set was used to cover the altar and the two crosses were used to cover the chalice cups.en_US
